Terms of Service

Effective date: 14 August 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Decoder ("Decoder", "we", "us") governing your access to and use of the Decoder browser extension and this website (together, the "Service"). By installing, purchasing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Acceptance & eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service, and at least the age of majority in your jurisdiction to purchase a license. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you are authorized to accept these Terms on its behalf. By using the Service you confirm that you meet these requirements.

2. What Decoder is

Decoder is a browser extension that decodes and rewrites social-media posts for entertainment and informational purposes only. It is not professional, legal, financial, medical, or career advice. Outputs are generated by AI models and may be inaccurate, incomplete, satirical, or offensive. You are solely responsible for how you interpret and use any output, and you should exercise your own judgment before relying on it.

Decoded output is AI-generated opinion, interpretation, and satire - it is not a statement of fact about any real person, business, or product, and must not be treated, quoted, or republished as one. Any resemblance to a specific individual's actual intent, conduct, or circumstances is inference, not verified fact.

3. License grant

Subject to these Terms and your payment of the applicable fee, we grant you a one-time, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the extension for your own personal use. One license covers one user across a reasonable number of your personal devices. You may not:

4. Bring your own AI

Decoder supplies no AI of its own. To produce results you must either provide your own third-party AI provider account and API key (for example, Anthropic/Claude or OpenAI) or run your own local model (for example, via Ollama). You are solely responsible for your provider accounts, API keys, usage, and all associated costs, and for complying with your provider's terms and policies. We do not control and are not responsible for the availability, output, accuracy, cost, or data handling of any AI provider or local model you choose to use.

5. No affiliation; trademarks

Decoder is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Meta (Facebook/Instagram), Reddit, YouTube/Google, Anthropic, OpenAI, Ollama, Lemon Squeezy, or any other platform or provider. All product names, logos, and trademarks are the property of their respective owners and are used for identification only. You are responsible for complying with the terms of service of any platform on which you use Decoder.

6. Acceptable use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful, personal purposes. You will not use Decoder to harass, defame, threaten, or target any individual, to violate any platform's terms of service, or to violate any applicable law or the rights of others. We may suspend or terminate access for conduct that breaches this section.

7. Payments & refunds

The Decoder license is sold as a one-time purchase through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record and handles payment processing and any applicable taxes. We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee: if you request a refund within 14 days of purchase, we will refund your payment, and requesting a refund terminates your license. Prices may change at any time, but changes do not affect licenses already purchased. Refunded, charged-back, fraudulent, or abused licenses may be revoked or deactivated.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that any output will be accurate or reliable.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms is limited to the amount you actually paid for your license. We will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Decoder and its operators from any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of any third party.

11. Changes to the Service or Terms

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We may also update these Terms; when we do, we will post the revised Terms on this site and update the effective date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your license and access to the Service if you breach these Terms. On termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately. Sections that by their nature should survive termination - including license restrictions, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification - will survive.

13. Governing law

[Governing law: the laws of {YOUR JURISDICTION} - update before launch]. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in that jurisdiction, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
